Study BBM in Nepal

Selecting the perfect study program and place to study BBM in Nepal is a crucial decision that will have a huge influence on your future. This blog will provide you some food for your thoughts if you have recently completed your +2 education and are interested in a career in business but are unsure which career path to choose to follow your ambition. Before you continue, consider why obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Nepal is preferable to studying overseas.

What is Business Management?

The Business Management program is an industry-based management course that enables students to build critical and analytical abilities as well as an in-depth understanding of many business topics. It cultivates abilities such as entrepreneurship, interpersonal communication, and leadership that aid graduates in obtaining better work chances and professional advancement. As a result, it is aimed towards aspiring future company executives and managers.

The program is designed with the following objectives:

A. Develop students’ skills in creative thinking, decision making, leadership, communication, and gain an understanding of operations and change.
B. Develop students’ understanding of entrepreneurship and innovation, and effective management of business operations in a dynamic business environment.
C. Prepare students for professional life to work as business managers and entrepreneurs.

Business Management Vs Business Administration

In terms of Tribhuvan University (TU) we can find only a subtle difference between BBA and BBM. Both the courses comprise 4 years of duration with 8 semesters offered with 120 Credit Hours. The teaching-learning pedagogy and assessment are the same for both the courses including the student marking evaluation through 60 marks of board examination and 40 marks of internal assessment with the same grading system.

We can find a major difference in the specializations offered by both the courses. BBM provides specialization in:
I.          Bank Operations and Cooperative Management
II.        Sales and Marketing
III.       Insurance and Risk Management
IV.       Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development
IV.       Accounting.

While BBA provides specialization in:
I.          Banking and Finance
II.        Industry and Services Management
III.       Micro-Enterprise Management
IV.       Sales and Marketing Management
V.        Account Specialization

Additionally, we can find 9 elective courses in BBM during the 4-year long span of time:
I.          Emerging Global Business Issues
II.        Management of Foreign Trade
III.       Organizational Development and Change
IV.       Budgeting and Financial Forecasting
V.        Event Management
VI.       Service Operations Management
VII.     Labor Relations Management
VIII     Negotiation Skills
IX        Real estate Management

Due to the existence of another prominent business and management curriculum – BBA – since Tribhuvan University established a new business and management curriculum in the shape of Bachelor of Business Management (BBM), it has been seen as a sub-par education by management students. However, this might be viewed as a misunderstanding on the part of the students, as they do not fully comprehend the curriculum and the benefits of BBM, and few experts have attempted to explain this. We are attempting to illustrate why management professionals feel BBM is a considerably excellent management degree presently. Some key benefits of studying BBM are listed below:

A. You can specialize in what you want to do with your career with five different specializations.
B. BBM is the only curriculum where you can specialize in Entrepreneurship.
C. BBM offers an advanced accounting curriculum that includes computer-based financial accounting as well as a theoretical approach and paper-based practice of accounting.
D. Do you know that in BBM, you may pick from nine elective courses? These optional courses can help you achieve your dual specialization BBM degree.
E. BBM opens the doors for amazing career prospects in your interested field.

Sales and marketing are among the highest-paying and most creative occupations available to management students in Nepal. Students with a BBM in Sales and Marketing degree have a lot of opportunities to advance in the sales and marketing industry, especially because practically every company (whether manufacturing or service-based) needs a significant sales and marketing department. Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development are the backbone for the development of any country that not only helps the students but also creates many job opportunities for the people living in the country solving the rapidly growing problem of unemployment. As a result, BBM graduates have unparalleled job opportunities following graduation.

REVIEW OF WEBINAR: GETTING HANDS-ON WITH R

Our college has been doing webinars on every Sunday and Wednesday on different topics. This Sunday, we had two days’ session on June 5th and 6th on ‘Getting hands-on with R‘ by Mr. Binot Jung Bogati

He is an alumnus of our college who is a data scientist and data miner. The session was informative for ACHS’s students as well as for attendees from outside the college. In these two days, we learnt the basics of R of programming and its uses, data loading, packages installing and importing and data visualizing. We started this session from very basic, like the use of R studio to data loading and visualizing.

I learned that R is a programming language and free software environment for statistical computing and graphics which is widely used among statisticians and data miners for developing statistical software and data analysis. In addition to this, he also explained the debugging in R studio, build-in function in R language, and also gave resource material to learn more about the R programming

This session was very fruitful for a student like me who didn’t have any knowledge of R programming and R studio. I would like to thank our mentor Mr. Binot Jung Bogati for your precious time, giving the resources and insight on R and our collage management team for creating such a teaching and learning environment and making this time productive. Looking forward to more such webinars

Lhakpa Dolma Sherpa, BCA 3rd Semester.

——————————————————————————————————————-

Coming to the webinar with no prior knowledge of R, I did not feel pressured as the pace of the session was to my preference. I appreciate the resources Mr. Binod Jung Bogati, the resource person had prepared for us so that we could follow along.

I cannot say that I have developed complete knowledge of R in the 4+ hours, that would undermine R. But I can say for sure that I have developed a good foundation in these 2 sessions. These sessions were definitely resourceful.

REVIEW OF WEBINAR: WORKING WITH GIT & GITHUB

Our college, Asian College of Higher Studies has been organizing webinars for the past few weeks . The webinar  on  ‘Working with Git and Github’ by  Mr. Diwash Shrestha conducted on May 30 ,2020 was fruitful. This event has helped to know about working of Git.

In this session, Mr Diwash Shrestha gave a explanation on each of the terminology  that are involved in Git like cloning, branch, pull request, merge. He also explained about the important commands that are involved in running a Git.

I was pleased to know about how Git plays an important role for the software developers. While working in a project, teamwork is done with the help of Git. Git is a Distributed model means your work is your own. You can let others see only what is necessary. Not everything has to be public.

At the end Mr Shrestha assigned some task. Overall it was a interactive session. I am grateful and proud to be a member of ACHS family and would like to thank our management team for organizing such  a session in this difficult times. In future, I aim to participate in these sort of educational events and encourage my college to organize more creative programs in future.

Kritam Dangol , CSIT 7th Semester.

This webinar was really helpful to me in many ways. It showed me the way to work efficiently with my friends on different aspects of a project. Unlike different Youtube videos, which at some point show language as an obstacle to education, it was simple to understand.

It might have been because of the similarity he faced in our phase in past. He was more open-minded and welcoming towards questions regarding the topic. This made the class more interactive and operative, is what I think at least for me. The fundamentals of anything should always be strong for further progress and this webinar did the same for me as it helped me to grasp the basic of GIT and GITHUB. It will assist me greatly in future. I hope it is same for other too.

Overall the webinar was good. His way to truthfully present the world of digital marketing gave some useful insights on what digital marketing is? And how it works? For some people like me who are very new to this topic it was quite fascinating to see how digital marketing works in real time, how feasible it can be for Nepali market.

The take away for me form the webinar was digital marketing is just another form of marketing with the help of different platform. We still require marketing skill which relates to management and knowledge of management is also important though we are students of science.

Complying with he said I also think it is an easy to get subject also going through his sentences I can now put digital marketing in my “seek to” list for career in Nepal.
